I'm too young to have experienced the original screening of The Twilight Zone but the series was and is so immensely popular that there were episodes still being made when I was a kid / teen and the show was still being aired, even in my country. I always loved the underlying spookiness, the audacious weirdness, and the brave way every episode not only entertained on the surface but addressed important social and political topics underneath it all as well.
In the introduction to this comic we get a little background information on how The Twilight Zone came to be in the first place and what it was for / what it's creator meant to achieve, the problems of such a revolutionary program - and what that means for this new format:
Not too long ago, a friend of mine read this volume so I found out there was a graphic novel series made about The Twilight Zone and really, it has been too long. There are currently no episodes being aired here as far as I know and I'm still trying to remember the title of the one episode I loved the most (unsuccessfully) so I had to have this. It actually took a while for me to be able to get a copy but it was sooo worth it.
The story here is about a woman calling the police about something that has supposedly flown over her area and subsequently crashed (we won't say the bad word "UFO"). When the cops drive around they actually do find trees with snapped off tips and see that something crashed into a nearby pond. They also find strange foot prints in the snow leading to a nearby diner and this is where the fun begins. Because in the diner there are 8 people that got there via a bus plus the owner of the diner.The problem? The bus driver only remembers 6 ever getting on the bus! Thus commences a wonderul search for who the alien is.
Personally, I LOVE stories in which a number of people are trapped somewhere for some reason and one of them is a monster/murderer/whatever so the other people, along with the reader, have to find out who it is. Therefore, this was exactly right for me. It's also an intelligent story with a nice twist at the ending (I only got it 3/4 right) and has the right kind of feeling to it, just like the TV show used to.
For any fan of the original show or its successors such as The X Files this is exactly right.

State troopers follow up on a call about a crash only to find whatever it was, it went into a frozen pond and footprints came out…heading straight for a diner. When they investigate, they find a bus and one diner too many. But who is the odd man out?
I don’t remember this episode, but I’m rewatching the series now, so I’m sure I’ll come upon it. I find it a bit hard to believe that this bus is carrying only 6 passengers and nobody can remember all the passengers. Seriously? There’s only 6 of them! Anyway, aside from that it’s a pretty good story with a great ending! And the artwork is fantastic.
