I really liked this book and got immersed in the universe. I just wished each story some of the stories were longer like I can see why that was the end of them but I wanted so much more. My favourites were Save Changes and Nevermind. But especially with Save Changes, I wish the story continued.

These stories were just so good. Monáe's world-making is incredible, and the interconnectedness of the stories built up so many different aspects of New Dawn and the people who live in it or resist it. There's also such wonderful community care throughout, from the collaborative stories themselves, to the characters of the stories working together to find safety, love, and hope. If you're listened to/watched Dirty Computer or not, I highly recommend this collection.

A very interesting read. I love the whole idea of fleshing out the concepts from an album with a book of stories. I also think it's a cool idea that Janelle Monáe chose a different author to work with for each story.

The concepts were really thought-provoking and while the book isn't always cheerful, I would say it is very hopeful for the future.

This is my first time reading an anthology based on an album, and I had a good time! I love that Janelle Monáe chose to continue exploring conversations around queerness, gender non-conformity, anti-capitalism, and Afrofuturism in this form. You don’t have to listen to Dirty Computer or watch its accompanying “emotion picture” to understand or enjoy this book, but it’s a great album, so why wouldn’t you?
