Be right back, I'm running off to buy me a horse! Loved reading about Snowman's rescue from the glue factory to national champion. Who doesn't love a rags to riches story, especially when it involves animals?

This book is as much about Harry de Leyer as it is about Snowman. It's about a friendship and love between man and beast, and I'm not going to lie, I teared up at the end.

I listened to it on audio, and the narration was well done, but I'm sure it's just as good in book form. 3 stars.

A horse with a big heart and the man who loved him

I knew nothing about the story of Snowman, the plow horse who became a jumping champion. This book by Elizabeth Letts introduced me to the de Leyer family and their beloved pet horse, who had a second career as a champion horse in competitive jumping. I do not tend to enjoy animal stories, but this was a great read.

Fantastic book. I think it will be a movie and a block-buster at that.

This story was super interesting and fun, but the author repeated a lot of information several times, constantly setting the scene by explaining how the value and use of horses had changed so much over the few decades leading up to this story. At the beginning it was valuable information, but by the time I was halfway through the book I was skimming until I'd find more of the actual story rather than repeated background on why this story was so unique. Overall a fun story of a piece of history I didn't know about.

This was my book clubs September pick. I didn't love it; I didn't hate it. There were aspects that were great...Harry the owner of the Snowman was genuinely likeable guy and his history was interesting. The writing style was a bit dry. And honestly, I'm just not a big horse book person. It was okay.
