The more I read those comics, the more I wish they'd been done as a tv show. They really are pretty good. And I love how they play with the BTVS mythos.

It’s just so good to be back in the world of Buffy but with a new take or twists and turns!

My Thoughts On: Buffy the Vampire Slayer #6

1. Willow, as important as venting your thoughts and processing your feelings is, maybe the best time to do isn't when you're fighting a giant bug-like monster.

2. Buffy and Willow just being affirming friends who support each other and prop each other up is just really important to me, okay?

3. I am LIVING for the Giles/Jenny Calendar content we're getting in this series. Giles and Jenny having a supportive, healthy relationship? Jenny being a total mom and worrying about Xander and Buffy, her and Giles' (basically) adopted daughter?

4. Actually, I need to talk more about Jenny Calendar being a total mom in this issue. She worries about how much Buffy, who is just a teenage girl, has to take on as the Slayer and chides Giles for not being more concerned for Buffy's well-being and not being more active in protecting her. Though Giles has a good reply that shows how much he loves and respects Buffy and tries to do his best by her, I still love that Jenny sees Buffy as a child in their protection first and the Slayer second. I love this so much. I need Jenny and Buffy to have a heart-to-heart and maybe an actual relationship in this series.

5. "I know my relationship with Buffy may seem odd to you, but I am not her father... Fortunately, unlike Buffy's father, I will always be there for her, and I will be there to catch her if she falls." Giles, you can't both deny to be Buffy's father figure and pledge to do a better job than her real father. You can't have it both way.

6. Why the hell does the friend location app work in this weird, jungle-like underground cave/maze thing?

7. "Your love for one another is so... human. And love is ever so mired in resentment, respect, rage... A real purpose to witness. Only men dare to venture through these caves... And they can be so dull, so simple. But you two are so... complicated! The monster recognizing and delighting in the complexity of female friendship made my day.

8. I know this line is said by the monster to Buffy about the soul stone, but I also feel it's good life advice, particularly regarding your loved one's mental health and trauma. "This wasn't about you... and there are some burdens you cannot carry."

9. Giles is such a dad when he says, "Buffy, why is this boy with you?" He has such disdain in his eyes. I love it.

10.
Robin, I trusted you! Buffy trusted you! And you're working with the Council, the shadiest of old white dudes? How dare you!

Same as with the previous issue (see problems here).
Basically, the story line is clever and I like the direction we're going but can't stand the new illustrator. Please bring back Mora! He was fantastic!!!

Everything is moving way too fast for my liking, and I'm not exactly thrilled about how Buffy and Willow handled Robin following them and being chill af about all the horrors he witnessed. They are both smarter than that, the Buffy and Willow I know and love would have questioned the hell out of him. Not to mention, given all that's happened so far with Spike and Dru, and that a lot of very knowledgeable people have been bought together very early on, it shouldn't be difficult for them to learn that his mom was the former slayer. Boy should have been outed for who he is the second he showed up at the trial.

It actually felt like things HAPPENED here and interesting hints were dropped. It moved at kind of a faster pace than normal too. I’m in agreement with Willow about Robin just locating them on GPS. Okay sure sir. And the creature kept miscounting souls which can’t be a mistake. My interest is peaked in what Robin is up to. If this will save Xander, and what the consequences will be for Willow.

Again this art is abysmal. All of the characters look surprised all the time and they’ve lost their likeness to the actors.
