I didn't realize it was the middle of a series before I started.

As a fan of the "Women of the Otherworld" series, I loved this novella. Please be aware, though, that if you haven't read the other books in the series, this story will make little or no sense to you. A quick but very enjoyable read that deserves every one of the five stars I've given it - but only if you're already familiar with the characters and their backstories.

Eve is a witch, demon, ghost and angel. Well mostly ghost and angel these days. She was a black witch when she was alive so she wasn't the best loved of the coven. She does the angel duty her way but it gets done. This time a djinn tries to trick her and there might be a traitor in her ranks.

Eve and Kris are about to go on a long awaited holiday when Eve is ordered to deal with some rebellious djinn. What appears to be a simple case of djinn behaving badly leads to Eve almost being driven mad by her own bad choices in life and a nice big bit of betrayal.

I like seeing Eve and Kris together. What a shame that this couple were never given the chance to be happy together with Savannah. Still, a happy afterlife is better than nothing and at least they can be together. I guessed the twists in this one but it didn't take away from enjoying the story.

I love Women of the Otherworld series. I love pretty much whatever Kelley Armstrong writes. I'm not sure I've read any of the stories involving Eve, only in the context of others talking about her. I like her style, but I wasn't ready to like her due to the previous discussions in the other books I've read. I don't think she was a very fab person. But she loved her daughter, Savannah, enough to sacrifice herself for her. So she definitely has that going for her.
She's an angel/ghost entity and she works for the Fates to rid the world of evil as much as she can. She does it in her own way and own style. Not to everyone's set of rules. She gets the job done.
I like her.
Definite recommend.

4 stars. This was much better than Eve's full length book. She works better in small doses like this novella. This series has me in such a chokehold that I'm reading the novellas and side stories which I never usually do but I just can't get enough. This doesn't really add anything to the overall series nor is it a necessary read but I want to consume everything that Armstrong has in this world.

This is a neat little story of Eve and how she is enjoying or not enjoying her new job. ;)

I didn't mind it, kinda wished I had listened while I was listening to the series its not a big deal though.

The narration was ok not my favorite.

Armstrong remains one of my favorite authors. Eve is a favorite character of mine that we get to see not as often as I'd like. I love her role as the ghost/reluctant angel. I want to see her finally have some interaction with Savannah and I predict that one of the next few full length books may let that happen.
