I liked Augury Answered, it had enjoyable worldbuilding with various well-designed and distinctive cultures, good characters and one genuinely surprising twist. The prose is generally solid, but occasionally missteps, and the action scenes, while competently designed, do lack some of the immediate oomph one could desire.
As it says on the tin, Augury Answered is a grim narrative, but it's not mindlessly dark. Finally, and I am going to try being vague to avoid spoilers, the conclusion of the book does somewhat require a conspiracy between the narrative and entire cultures to pull off. This isn't a really strong criticism because it didn't affect my enjoyment of the book while reading, but once retrospect rolls around it does stretch belief.
