The Bet is the second book in the Manhattan Night series by the talented Natalie Wrye. It can be a standalone but I recommend reading The Vow because it was awesome! If you have read it then you already know Heath and Violet. They had a one night stand and then Heath left town. Gone but not forgotten. Now he's back because his family needs him and he's fine until he sees Violet. All the memories come flooding back and he can't stop thinking about her. Violet doesn't even like Heath, but her body betrays her at every turn. She still wants him. Now they have to work together and be friendly and that turns into longer stares and inconvenient touches. And it turns into so much more. Talking, having actual fun together. But they still have a job to do and it's not going to be easy. Just when it seems they are on the same page things start to fall apart. The bet. The case. Too much at stake. Can Heath get Violet to trust him again? I loved this story! All the twists and turns and feelings got to me! Heath is sexy and fun and Violet is smart and independent. I'm already looking forward to the next couple!

These two are my favorite characters so far.
With the tension and one-liners between these two in book 1, The Vow, you know once they get together it's going to be H-O-T.
What I wasn't expecting was how emotionally intense this story was going to be. From the prologue, you know this story is going to be deep.
One thing I did miss in this story was Heath's one-liners. They made me laugh in The Vow and yet they were missing in this one. He was still hot AF.
Overall, this was a great story and can't wait for book 3 in this series.
