This book delivered on everything it advertised and did a great job with the beats it touched on. It’s a fast paced, quick thriller with genuine moments of reflection. There were a handful of moments that literally had the hairs on the back of my neck standing up and I could vividly see it playing out. This book would translates wonderfully to screen for a teen scream movie!

The only reason I’m not rating it higher is that I kinda wish the secrets each person was harboring were bit….more damning. Granted these are normal teenagers doing a lot of things teenagers do that are shitty (cheating, screwing over friends, drinking, etc) but because this books’ premise hinges on secrets I was expecting more. Even if the author kept the secrets what they were it would have been great to see those secrets take up more time and see the repercussions play out more as well.

Also: GIVE ME MORE INFO ON THE CREATURE?! I need the origin of this creature!!!!!

Edit: okay I’m changing my rating and lowering it from 3.5 to 2.75 because….i actually am not a fan of that ending. I wish the author had just left it all wrapped up one chapter earlier because that last chapter made me roll my eyes big time.

Flight 171 is a quick-paced thriller that takes place during a 4-hour plane ride with a group of high school students and a sinister, unearthly beast. Devon is still grieving the loss of her sister and trying to uncover who killed her when her senior class boards a plane to Denver for a ski trip. Shortly into the trip, a supernatural terror takes over the plane and gives the high schoolers an ultimatum - choose one person in their group to sacrifice before the end of the flight or the plane will crash, killing everyone.

I did rate this book based on my reading experience, however, though this thriller wasn't my favorite due to the semi-shallow plotlines, I feel confident in saying that teen readers will eat this book up. It has all the elements of an edge-of-your-seat thriller with a mystery that keeps you wondering almost to the end.

I think this book was really good for a thriller and spooky adventure. Solving a murder mystery while also trying to survive is no easy task.
