Another fun and epic outing in this series! Plots keep moving forward, but in an interesting way, dragons and gnomes are in the mix, there are some mysteries at hand, etc. I do think the big bad needs to show up as more than mentions soon, and I am pretty curious about what Paks is up to. Lots of good politicking in this one too. Trigger warning for mention of child sexual abuse and miscarriage. A-/B+.

The series continues! There were some parts that could have been edited a bit better (ran slow in a few places as the plot was rehashed by other characters) but on the whole I LOVE these characters. I especially like the indictment of Paksenarrion as a bringer of change and that "change hurts" (something US conservatives should note, but I digress) The good/bad thing is THIS IS NOT THE END OF THE STORY ARC! I raced through this waiting to get to the end and I get another bad guy reveal! sigh, well another year to go to wrap up the series.

ARGH. Ends literally mid-scene.

As always, a pleasure to read Elizabeth Moon especially since it's a continuation of an old series that I really liked. I love the way she has more than one main character and has several main stories going at once that are all inter-related but separate and she writes so well that it all just flows enough to not be confusing. I am, however, not satisfied with the way it ended. Not a cliffhanger lover by any means but this one seemed a little less...well I don't know. I just didn't think it came to a close enough close before...well..closing. lol Now I have to wait till next time for the rest of the story. I'm optimistic that I won't be totally lost.

Didn't really get into the first half of this one, which is unusual as I love Moon's work. The last half really picked up though and I finished it very quickly.

As always I adore Moon's fantasy worl building, I'd like to read more Paks but her other characters are pretty good too ;)
