Read it in under 1,5 hours. I thought it strange that such a large portion was written from the Odd Sisters perspective, I feel like I should have read parts 1 and 2 because I kinda struggled in the beginning. I was under the assumption however that the Villain series existed of stand alone books, I now know that there is a continuous storyline. It was still really good though and I enjoyed the tragic backstory and motive Ursula got. I was hoping for a better ending for Ursula though…
I understand this series is about the three sisters but I wish this book had more about Ursula and less about the sisters. Still a good book though
I did like this one better than the previous ones (probably because the Odd Sisters were a bit less over the top). I'm curious about Nanny and where she comes into play, and the story of Ursula was ok (not enough to make me feel sympathetic for her though ;) )
From the description and the first chapter I thought this would be a much deeper exploration of Ursula and her beginnings. About 30% of this was just parroting scenes from film, and 50% a very convoluted 'side' plot that felt completely shoe-horned in so as to link this story to the wider series arc, but made very little sense. That left 20% about Ursula that I found mildy interesting.
Only managed to finish it because it was so short. I've read some of the others and enjoyed them, so not sure why this one fell so flat but I found it very disappointing.

This was probably the best one of the series so far. Mostly because we finally have some minor characters from the first two books coming back to play larger, more important, and original roles in the larger story at hand. It still feels like a rushed telling of the stories we already know. And I was displeased by the chapter that was word for word dialogue of the “Poor Unfortunate Souls” song. But we have momentum! And I’m actually looking forward to reading the next one!
This story was really good and gave a good insight into Ursula's back story regarding her relationship to Triton and why she was filled with as much hate as she did. It tied in really well with the Little Mermaid film and even had some scene's from the film in it as a whole. For the most part though, it was going alongside the film, giving you a "behind the scene's" feel as to what was contributing to parts of the film, what was going on in the background and even if there was a reason something happened in a certain way due to the control of someone else. I felt like compared to the last 2 in the series, this one concentrated a lot more on the sideline stories, such as the odd sisters and Circe, Tulip and Nanny etc. Maleficent is alluded to quite heavily in this one too which I felt was good to lead me into the next book a bit more seamlessly. Looking forward to the next one in the series!
