This one was very disappointing. I feel like 90% of the book wasn’t even about Ursula! I was really looking forward to this one since The Little Mermaid is my favorite, but it was a pretty big letdown

I enjoyed the book, but it left me wanting more, especially when it came to Ursula. While the story focused on Ariel, I wish there had been more depth and backstory on Ursula’s life to truly understand her transformation into the sea witch. It was an interesting take on a familiar tale, but I was left hoping for a bit more insight into the character who often steals the show. Still, a fun read.

I was actually upset with this book. First of all, Ursula is by far one on my favorite villains, along with Ariel being my favorite princess. So of course I had to read this book. I was greatly disappointed when it was literally a straight retelling of the The Little Mermaid, like word from word. Second, I was upset because Ursula really wasn't in it the book too much. It actually featured more the two other storylines that will come up in future books.
Third, the multiple storyline was a bit confusing. I swear I think their were three storylines. All were related to the original plot of the story if you could never remember it at this point. Though the storylines were also from previous books so PLEASE do not think you can read these books as stand alones. It is a series.
Though I really just wish it feature a little bit more Ursula and her sinister ways. I was greatly depressed that the only little extra we got was a little back story on how she became the sea witch and how she was connected with King Triton and Ariel. Besides that the book mainly featured the Odd Sisters and Princess Tulip. Why is she so important? This is the second book now and she isn't even a Disney princess.
