The mystery was engaging, but the timeline was difficult to keep track of until about halfway through the book. Every main character was unlikeable, too.

This book was a page turner. I could not put it down. I had my doubts in the beginning, but I was left in awe. The characthers, the emotions, and the suprises make this book worth it's while.

"... but I know that there's a long night ahead. And I have to get up early tomorrow morning, to catch the train"

The last lines of this book. Quiet amazing. When I started this book, I absolutely hated it. But I can't leave a book unfinished, so I read on. And surprisingly enough I related to the characters sometimes. I hated how unapologetic and how irritating and how depressing they were. But at the same time, these are the things that makes the novel so appealing. I really liked it. I didn't know who the culprit was, I thought I did. But I didn't. So, yes that was cool. I give this book a 3.5. Writing was good, character development was good too.

But this isn't a heart racing "psychological thriller"! Comparing it to Gone Girl is a little desperate. It is good, but it didn't make me want to stay single the way Gone Girl or You did. I just mean, it didn't make my heart race.

It started off a little slow, but then quickly dove into the various characters and their storylines.
Overall, there wasn't a single character I felt I was "rooting" for, which was a bit of a let down. The ending was not what I was expecting. I'm still digesting it.

Muito legal! Ao contrário de Gone Girl que tem um grande TCHAN na história, esse tem vários! Depois da metade do livro, praticamente em todos os capítulos. Curti, comecei bem as leituras do ano.

No me gustó.

I LOVE THIS BOOK, SO MUCH.
I honestly could not put it down, i didn't want to finish it all in one day because it was so good. I read this book during a boring week, so i was always looking forward to reading this book, hence why i did not want to finish it all in one day.
It is so perfectly written, the plot, how all the events and characters and everything that happens altogether fits in perfectly like a really good puzzle.
The way the characters are put together really helps bring such a realistic image of them in mind, as well as the setting itself.
I found out that this book was being made into a film after i had finished reading it and i guess one aspect that disappoints me from this is that instead of it being based in England, it's set in America, so it sort of ruins the whole image i've got for this novel, anyway never the less, It looks promising.
So to finish this review, this book is INCREDIBLY and i will definitely recommend this book to everyone i know.

Wow, a LOT of hype for a pretty mediocre story. It had a lot of potential at the beginning and did suck me in at first, but I started to get bored with the "mystery" about a third of the way in and was REALLY bored with it by two-thirds of the way in. Like, just get to the point already, or make me more interested in how you're getting there. It was an okay book, but I wouldn't recommend it to a friend.

Spoiler
I think it was partially Rachel's character being the main POV - she was interesting at first, but then seeing her do the same thing over and over again got tired for me ("I swear I'll never drink again!" [5 minutes later] "Oh crap, I'm drunk." [10 hours later] "I'm hungover and can't remember anything from last night but I obviously did something TERRIBLE. I'll never drink again!" [and the cycle continues]).

Also, can we talk about that ending? First of all, I didn't feel much surprise at who the killer was, considering they had set it up pretty clearly to be one of a few characters. And the fact that it was Tom would have been fine, except how he acted when he realized he had been caught felt SO STILTED. He sees Anna and Rachel talking, gets a vibe from them, and then starts...confessing? Really? And the WAY he confessed was so "Let me tell you every single detail you might ever want to know in the exact order it happened, even if it doesn't make sense for me to be sharing it with you." I very much felt like the author was at that point just telling us what we wanted to hear instead of letting us learn things naturally. Which is probably because she wanted to kill him off (hence, no detailed police confession to look forward to) but didn't want us to feel like we didn't know how or why he killed Megan. It just felt very forced and fake.

A little repetitive but I love the different perspectives and flashbacks.
