at the end of the day it’s always a man that’s the problem…
Not sure what all the fuss is about... Feel the same way about this as I did about Gone Girl. Meh, maybe because I couldn't sympathize with any of the protagonists. Would NOT recommend. There are too many other good books out there.

Felt this fell a bit flat for me. Didn’t really like any of the characters very much, which probably didn’t help. At the start the time jumps felt confusing, probably because I didn’t pay enough attention to the months.
Didnt feel very tense - felt more like a mystery than a thriller.
I did manage to avoid spoilers (haven’t seen the film) so it kept me guessing right until the end. The end fell a bit flat though - I wanted a bit more from it, all felt a bit pathetic?

I enjoyed listening to this book. If I had read it I'm 100% sure I would've turned to the last pages long before I had gotten there.
I was thrown off by the fact 3 different women narrated the book. I thought it was just one very talented woman. It resulted in 2 very differently accented Kemals. So much so I thought a plot twist about them being 2 different people was in the works. I didn't love this book- it was enjoyable.

Felt more like a mystery than a thriller. Most of the plot was about trying to figure out who was responsible for Megan's disappearance, without much of a sense that anyone else was in danger of anything worse than the police telling them to stop snooping around. I liked the pace at which information trickled out, but the actual plot progression felt very slow. Since the plot largely exists because Rachel can't reliably recall the evening Megan vanished, and with her working to regain that memory through much of the book, it felt more like the revelation was a matter of the author deciding to return her memory to her once it was time for the climax, rather than that she made a key discovery, although I guess there's something to be said for her getting that information while taking steps that could theoretically help her with her alcoholism. (Speaking of, she had a remarkable total of 0 withdrawal symptoms. Wild.)
The reveal felt chilling as it crept up, though. I had entertained that possibility, but most becausethe lack of in-story suspicion combined with the amount of page space given made that character seem best positioned for a twist reveal . I wasn't paying close enough attention to notice some of the seeded foreshadowing for it that came up early on.
