Meh. I had high expectations for this book as so many of my friends liked it. I listened to the audiobook on 1.5x speed and I still couldn’t wait for it to be over. None of the characters are likable. It was not a bad mystery, but the road to solving it was not believable. The end was good though.
Extremely boring. Not even a good twist. The ending was disappointing, the whole book was.
Pretty good. This book and Wild Dark Shore made me realize I do like mysteries. I think I didn't like them because all I knew was Sherlock Holmes, kitschy whodunnits. I figured out it was Tom halfway through. The ending kind of dragged once the truth came out. Petty unsatisfying ending though, everyone's shitty including the detectives. Both men are abusive and hiding themselves. The women are insecure and unhappy and desperate for male love.
I like that the narrator is so unreliable. I haven't yet read something from pov of an alcoholic who blacks out. From her view what she does isn't that much of a big deal, although it brings shame. But what she actually does is so messy - puking in the hallway, leaving piss soaked undies at the front door, stumbling drunk on the train steps at like 6pm. Sad to see her descent due to her infertility, and glad that she's better by the end. Anna is written well too, she's very self-important, in denial, not very smart.

Soooo good! I hated when I had to stop reading the book for the night, my hands itched to hold it again and my mind itched to absorb the story again.

Primera novela de intriga y misterio de la escritora británica Paula Hawkins, publicada en 2015, y adaptada posteriormente al cine, protagonizada por una de mis actrices favoritas, Emily Blunt.
Ahora bien, ¿ha valido la pena dejar pasar el tiempo de haber visto la película para finalmente leer el libro? Yo diría que “meh”, aunque tengo que reconocer que es un thriller super adictivo, con una premisa interesante, aunque no es original, pues esto de ser cotilla y seguirle la pista a alguien en la intimidad de su casa, ya lo hemos visto en la maravillosa película de Hitchcock “La ventana indiscreta”, de 1954. Aún así, lo de hacer “la vieja del visillo” en la ventana de un tren es genial.
Rachel está acabada. Su matrimonio fracasó, perdió el trabajo y su alcoholismo sólo va en aumento, y ahora vive en el apartamento de su amiga de prestada. Todo es un desastre pero ella continúa cogiendo el tren de las 8.04 am todos los días, haciendo ver que sigue yendo a la oficina, para que su amiga no sepa que la han despedido. El trayecto no tiene nada de especial salvo que Rachel observa cada día, tras una parada rutinaria del tren, una encantadora pareja que ríe, toma café e intima en la terraza de su casa, lo que despierta en ella algo que va mucho más allá de la simple curiosidad.
No recuerdo bien la película, la vi hace mucho tiempo, pero sé que me gustó muchísimo. La novela me ha parecido del montón, contada a tres voces. Lectura veloz, bien escrita. El misterio está bien planteado y repartido. Ell final es bueno, pero previsible.
No ha estado mal, es genial este tipo de novelas para afrontar un parón lector que se dice. No pesa, no te vuela la cabeza, va ligero y rápido, como el mismísimo tren.

This has to be the biggest disappointment of my life so far. All I’d heard about this book was good things, how its a brilliant storyline and the mystery is great. Wrong. This book is honestly one of the worst books I’ve ever read. Even when I started it, i was not drawn in by it, I didn’t even want to finish it and that is why it took me so long to get through it, but I’m not one to leave a book unfinished so i pushed myself - bored stiffless, might i add - to get through it. There is not one character in this book that i liked, every single character was complete and utter trash. Rachels an alcoholic who is so god damn clingy and shes actually borderline psychotic in my opinion. The ending I could see a mile off, no mystery or shocking plot twist whatsoever. If you’re thinking about reading this book, don’t.
