I’ve really got to start reading the content warnings. This one felt really graphic and I found myself skipping a lot of scenes. It was a super interesting concept and I thought it was handled well enough, though I did find a few typos which sucked. I don’t think I would have picked this book up if I had seen the content warnings.

Overall I was intrigued on the mystery and liked the short chapters and pace. However the transphobic terms and misgendering of a character however minor made me not like the book as much.

A fast read once you get into. The different POVs are a lot and I’m not sure they were all necessary but Helen Grace is a solid character that I plan on continuing to read.

This is my first M J Arlidge book, and I have been blown away. This is the first crime thriller in a long time, where I genuinely did not have a clue, not even a tiny incline of who was behind these ridiculously torturous crimes. Question after question went unanswered. And even at the end, there's no happy ending! Which is how it should be with a crime thriller, people get murdered throughout, why should it have a happy ending!! Will be recommending, and I will be looking out for more of her books!!

This book took turns you would never expect. It’s a quick read, not super complicated, especially if you like mystery and crime stories. It had me on the edge of my seat until I finished the book. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
