I’ve really got to start reading the content warnings. This one felt really graphic and I found myself skipping a lot of scenes. It was a super interesting concept and I thought it was handled well enough, though I did find a few typos which sucked. I don’t think I would have picked this book up if I had seen the content warnings.

A fast read once you get into. The different POVs are a lot and I’m not sure they were all necessary but Helen Grace is a solid character that I plan on continuing to read.

The storyline and case are intriguing. However, police-work didn’t go into much detail, so you do question why certain factors were not considered or why they didn’t think to look at ‘XYZ’.
There is also a trans-woman character and they are often referred to as their birth-sex and they dead-name her.
I felt the author did not accept the character’s true identity and only involved a trans character to hide the persons’ past relationship with another character.
This shows particularly when the author referenced the trans woman as “ ‘her’ “ which I felt was mocking and wrong.
