Absolutely charming and comforting read, loved the setting and the characters. Predictable? Probably, but lovely to read about elderly people with interesting backstories and potential romances! And lovely writing about grief.

This had all the ingredients I was looking for; a fun elderly protagonist, a quaint English village, heck there was even a dog. It just didn’t hit the mark. The relationships could be more flushed out and the ending is predictable. It’s a heartwarming story, but I never found myself eager to pick up the book. Given how much I loved The No Show, a later publication, I'm happy to try her again!

This was light and airy and I enjoy her writing style. Also British people are silly. I wasn’t as entranced as I was by The Flatshare, but a second book is hardly as good as the first. But I am excited to read her other books!
