Did i skim read this?? And watch youtube summary videos after each chapter/day?? Heck yeah! Do I regret it at all? Heck no! haha this book is literally SO BIG (everyone at work literally asked if I was reading the bible) and I didn't like it from like page 10 so yeah.... I still read it don't get me wrong, but def read it FASTT.

my biggest thing about the whole series and this book as well, is that there was just WAY too much going on. WAY too many characters, WAY too many plot points, just WAYY too much. Very hard to keep track of. Because of that, i didn't feel any real connection/pull towards any characters cause the chapters kept switching from POV to POV and it was so chaotic.

The actual plot of this wasn't interesting.... I would randomly like Dalinar's POV, and then randomly Shallan and then randomly Navani's but I didn't care about kaladin (sadly cause he's one of my fav's) or Sigzil or Szeth.

Although I did love Renarin and Rlain like that was cute.

But yeah don't have much more thoughts cause I just read it to be done with it. It gave me similar vibes of Game of Thrones when I was reading it... maybe this type of fantasy isn't my thing? Like SO much going on and WHAT'S UP WITH ALL THE BOOKS BEING SO DAMN LONG.

Wow, what an end to the first arc of books. Some areas were a bit tough to chew through (mainly the Shallan storyline), but Adolin really carried this book for me. I am now a full on Adolin stan and would follow this man into battle.

This was a wild ride (both the book and the series as a whole). I loved the pacing bc it is hard to make a 1300 page book engaging and I loved most of the characters BUT the ending?! I am slightly frustrated that it does not feel like the true end of an era and more like an actual halfway point to era 2 like there are so many things unresolved!!!!!!!!!

Regardless, overall thoughts of the series - it was great as far as worldbuilding and characters and some of the best character ARCs I’ve ever read but I def think some of it dragged in between and RoW almost put me in a slump LOL I can see why he is one of the best, if not the best, epic fantasy writers of our time.

TO BE FAIR I HAVE BEEN READING THESE BACK TO BACK FOR 4 MONTHS. I can’t wait to read era 2 in real time and be left frothing at the mouth for the next one. My journey to finish all the cosmere books before Dec continues so STAY TUNED.
