Because I am but a humble reader, who likes fluffy things, and wants happy endings; I appreciated that this book A) wrapped things up, and B) Didn't kill our sibling trio.
I also appreciated that Rufus had a pivotal part to play. (I didn't like that they slaughtered ninety children to get there)

Outstanding!!! Emotionally charged finale worth the read.

As much as it hurts to say it, having all those kids killed really makes sense to relay how truly horrific and inhuman the things beyond the door are. So I hated it but I see why it was in the book. The page where Dodge explains is ideas about world domination is one of the most frightening things I’ve ever seen in a graphic novel and I read Junji Ito. And though I was ecstatic that Bode returns (I have kids and that kind of stuff gets me in the gut) I could not figure it out. I know I missed something along the way but I already brought the previous volumes back to the library!

I’m not sure how I would’ve ended Locke & Key, but it would’ve been with significantly less casual homophobia, etc. Kinda over stuff set in the 80s (or with one foot in the 80s, as though people cant evolve) using that as backdrop as a lifeline to drop as many “r” words as you want (also, I don’t love the character of Rufus much at all. Feels like something Joe should’ve left in his Dad’s bag of tricks). But I’m glad men are the hero of this story. Pretty cool, pretty inventive.
