This held my attention the entire time. I loved the mindset it put me in as far as thinking about the relatives of serial killers and the trauma that comes from it. So many twists at the end.

this book was a pretty cool mystery.

my main issue is that the clues felt all over the place, and that the main character was kinda annoying. she should’ve listened to when she was encouraged to get help, but oh well, her PTSD gave me a good story to read.

overall, i was interested the whole time i read this book. it was creepy, and mysterious, and just proves that history repeats itself and that solving a crime is tricky.

𝗔 𝗙𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝗿𝗸 by @stacyvwillingham

This one was on my TBR and one I wanted to read, but when a friend suggests a buddy read, I had to put it on the top of my stack!

What a thrill this book was. The mystery lurking in the shadows and the twists that kept me on my toes. I felt Stacy did an amazing job because I picked up some characteristics that had my gut saying one thing while Katie was picking up on others and saying another. I absolutely love that! It made for such a great discussion and we could see how each other picked up on different clues and why.

I sincerely felt for Chloe throughout the whole book, her life was for sure not easy. I can relate in terms of her anxiety, but only to an extent. I’d never wish what she had to go through on anyone.

The only thing I was disappointed in, for lack of other words to describe how I felt, was the ending. I felt that I had so many unanswered questions. But I also felt like it was left open for maybe a potential part two, who knows. I’d love to see how Chloe copes going forward and how her life progresses. I could go on with my questions, but to keep from spoiling I won’t.

I will say this one had me wanting to keep reading and not put it down. If it wasn’t for starting a new job, I probably would have finished this one so much sooner. So definitely be prepared for a page turner!

This was another amazingly well written book, but beware the trigger warnings. The storyline is centered around Chloe, who is someone trying to live outside of the shadows of her past, and her family ties. I sense a pattern of types of books I like to read (but I've never personally been through any of these triggers/events so that's something for me to think on later). Something about the past seems familiar and it's something she's put out of her mind, until she can't ignore it anymore. She moves through the rest of the book trying to uncover anything to be helpful to the events in the present. I don't want to give any spoilers but it's worth the read. From one booknerd to another, Happy Reading!

i actually really liked this. i try really hard to not put a ton of thought into guessing who or what the twist is in thrillers so i don’t ruin the experience for myself, and that worked in my favor for this one. there was a bunch of twists and turns with a mix of unreliability. some basic tropes but they were written really well. i enjoyed the writing quite a bit. i didn’t like some small parts and also the unreliability of the narrator and why she was unreliable. this book felt like if the writers of criminal minds and pretty little liars wrote a book. i overall enjoyed reading this!
