I haven’t even finished it and I’m so mad. TW: VICTIM BLAMING. Lucy’s conversation with her brother, Matt:
“I wasn’t fine! None of it is fine. I feel like I’m losing my mind all the time.” “Okay, but Luce, you never, ever complain or ask for help.”
“Are you kidding? I ask you to do stuff all the time!”
He rolled his eyes. “Sure, stuff like, ‘Hey, Matt, can you do the dishes?’ [spoiler alert: he doesn’t do his dishes] Never once have you said, ‘Hey, Matt, I feel like I’m going out of my fucking mind, and I really, really need some help here before I completely lose my shit.’”

This shit goes on and on. She even *thinks* that it’s her fault because she didn’t tell her grown ass adult brother that there was a *reason* he should pay his share of the rent/utilities/grocery bill or scrub his own damn toilet... besides the fact that he’s a damn adult.

This book lost at least a full star for this shit. It’s like Nix is trying to pile on the realization that Lucy is a doormat, but having her brother be such a dickhead and having Lucy believe his garbage is misogynist at best and pathological at worst. We can’t expect men to do their share when we’re telling women that it’s their fault because they didn’t BEG. Fuck. That. Nonsense. Susannah Nix, you should be ashamed.

Also, the HEA was pretty disappointing,
way to ruin a proposal, Tanner. Then to twist the knife by asking for a long engagement? Should have just said no.
And it ends on a cliffhanger. Boo.
