The Jane Yellowrock World Companion by Faith Hunter

To be honest, this companion novel does nothing for someone like me who is binging on series: I don't need reminders of what happens.
On the other hand, I don't think I would find it particularly useful even if I read every book when they were released- I read some other long-running series like Dresden Files and didn't felt the need for recaps of every book, but it doesn't mean it's like that for everyone else.
I was mostly interested in short stories.

Two shorties told from Bruiser's pov and one that covers period between books #6 and #7:

"First Sight"

Oh, here is my man Bruiser!
I am an unapologetic fan of George and this shortie is told from his pov and covers his first encounter with Jane.
She kicked his ass, he was charmed. ;)

Too short to rate it on basis that would give much credence to it, but if you are fan of George, you'll enjoy this little addition.

****

"Dance Master"

This story is too short and it's total fan service with George being sexy and determined, and as someone who is a fan of Bruiser, I appreciate it very much.

"You will leave her for me, Leo whispered into his mind. The woman is mine.
“The woman belongs to no one.” George bowed his head as Leo lashed out at him. But he didn’t give up. “She is free, my master. And you will not be able to take her.”

"Beneath a Bloody Moon"

The story is set between [b:Blood Trade|15732001|Blood Trade (Jane Yellowrock, #6)|Faith Hunter|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1354157936s/15732001.jpg|21412444] and [b:Black Arts|17566969|Black Arts (Jane Yellowrock, #7)|Faith Hunter|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1371494099s/17566969.jpg|24502785].
This is sort of run-of-the-mill story with Jane and Younger guys hunting werewolves in Chauvin as a favor to Rick.
This story would be completely forgettable and unremarkable to me if not for the fact that 2 things happened that can be relevant later on.

1)There are lone werewolves completely in control, not tainted by curse of rabid viciousness specific just for them and not other weres. This is a biggie considering from what we found out about them in book #3.
2)Jane was bitten in her animal form and she wasn't infected. What does that mean? Is her power growing? Did magic (talismans) she was exposed to lately affected her own magic in some way? What does that mean for Rick and her?

4.0

First Sight - 4.0 stars

Jane's first meeting with Leo and Bruiser told from Bruiser's POV.

Kind of sexy . . . But I'm still not #teambruiser

#teamjane

Dance Master - 4.5 stars

Okay . . . That was HOT.

I'm still #teamjane but now I'm closer to #teambruiser than I've been since that limo ride in one of the first books . . . youknowwhatimtalkingabout *fans self*

Beneath a Bloody Moon - 3.0 stars

If Faith Hunter has a flaw, it's overusing concepts and/or revamping (HA!) ideas that have previously been treated as unique.

We know from MERCY BLADE that werewolves are cursed with both madness and an inability to create female werewolves. Which was why Magnolia Sweets was such a Big Deal.

Yet in this story, what are we dealing with?

Another female werewolf. *sighs* And the way the story plays out, we never get an explanation for HOW she exists or what the deal is with the inexplicably HUGE dire werewolf.

ALSO, there's Rick. Being Rick. Ugh.
