i’d never read atwood before, but she’s easily become one of my favourite authors. i originally picked this up for the “male fantasies” quote, but soon became enamoured with atwood’s vivid prose and great talent for writing female characters. while the book can be slow at times, this is largely due to the density of the language, which still works in the book’s favour. a haunting portrait of female relationships, the robber bride is an incredible book.

As with all Atwood books, I feel like there are eight layers here I need to peel back. I could read this three more times and not catch everything.
