Toxic relationship is in reference to a familial relationship. Also, in case there's anyone else out there that also gets freaked out by foreign objects going into someone's facial orifices,

there is a scene toward the end of the book where spectral bees are flying into Meg's nose, mouth, ears and tear ducts. Then a bit later in the chapter, they go into Apollo, and he says he can feel them ricocheting around his respiratory system. Meg's description is only one sentence, while Apollo's is few more lines.

Much better

You see minor improvements of Apollo’s character by the end of the first book but he gets much better in this one. It was nice to see Leo again! I love his humor. This book was exciting and dark and everything in between. I hope this isn’t the last we see of the Waystation.

This book was much better than the first one! I really liked the exploration of queer identity, trauma and child abuse.
It definitely feels more serious than the series before, because of the topics it's talking about.
