This was a pretty darn good paranormal romance book. I liked it, I liked it a whole lot. And yeah, looks like vampires, werewolves and all that has gotten back under my skin because I'm attracted to those stories lately. I'm ok with that. And I would be absolutely ok with saying this book is good—with liking the book—if it weren't for one major aspect. Because of this aspect, I feel like not even admitting that I liked this book. I feel like hiding my face. I really should feel disgusted. Yeah, I was disgusted. Initially. But then, the characters did evolve. Still, the beginning of the story starts with an abduction and pretty much rape. True, he didn't actually have intercourse with her BUT he did use his physical power to minimize her and keep her in check and demand she do a few things that crossed over into what I would consider rape. Oh sigh. I'm a sick puppy because I wound up liking this character, he started doing things that was a 180 from the beginning...respecting her. Shrug. Well anyway, the storyline was good ...you know, the story that involves more than the couple. The writing was pretty good too. I can say that I did not cringe once at overuse of words, lame descriptions, over telling, etc. Truly, the writing was good. Now, if these stories could just evolve away from the man always needing to dominate the woman. For gosh sakes, a story with a man respecting the woman for who she is while he is also being selfless and denying his desires and needs for her good, well, that would rock a paranormal story in my opinion.

Maybe a 3.5

Started out great, but then it drags. Drags, drags, drags. Felt like they should've finished their relationship problems earlier. Both leads were bleh.

The characters weren't great but their conversations were funny. It's amusing to read the paranormal creatures talking about and interacting with modern tech.

Plot:
SpoilerLachlain was captured and tortured by the big bad vampire when he scented Emma's scent. They're mates. He went after her, got disgusted because she's a vampire while he's a werewolf. But she's also half valkyrie. And she doesn't have a mean bone in her, super timid and different from a vampire's evil nature. After a long long time, he found out her half-half species situation. But he of course had fallen for her before the discovery. It took longer for Emma to come around. At the end, Emma killed the big bad, and surprise surprise he's her father.

Love the take on werewolves in this! And Valkyrie! I don’t gravitate towards either species (I didn’t even know Valkyrie were in romance books) but this was excellent.

Good enough. Disliked the two MCs at first but they evolved and grew on me. 2/5 for 🌶️ quantity.

The beginning was pretty disturbing to me, and I really didn't like how forceful Lachlain was with Emma. I thought it was getting pretty close to a rape type of scene, and that is just wrong not romantic. In the end, I was surprised that I really loved his character, and how the plot evolved and ended.

it was good. I thought I pick up book one but I picked up book two but it was still pretty easy to follow what was going on.
