Ahhh.

Shades of Ursulas Vernon and K. Le Guin, Mieville, Valente, JY Yang, Hyperion (Hyperion??), Tanith Lee, Golem and the Djinni, and more. Several rereads in order.

OK, so look - I read this in a single day and nearly in a single sitting. I think perhaps that’s not how it was meant to be read. So much of the language in this poetry collection is so deeply beautiful that I think it needed to be savored.

I was only a few pages in when I felt compelled to start reading aloud, and sat in my office reading aloud to myself alone until I finished the book. The words needed to come out and they sounded so nice to hear.

I don’t actually read a whole lot of poetry and I read even less speculative poetry, but I really really enjoyed this one. Nearly every page has something that just feels right or quotable or large.

I own this book! I've loved Lemberg's work for a long time and am so happy to support them by buying their book. The poetry is delightful.
