So good! The characters all felt so real, the interview style was really cool, and the backstage view of the 70s music industry was so interesting. This is the kind of book you could reread and notice so many things you didn't think about the first time. Warren was my favorite, but this is one of those stories where everyone has a different character. This book made me laugh out loud and tear up at some moments, too. I can't recommend it enough.

Graham and Karen broke my heart...and that scene where Daisy jumped into the pool in that beautiful dress was so stunning and so painful!

the reveal of the author had me gagged! the rest of the book suddenly made so much sense

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. I was really put off by the interview format at first, thinking that it would feel detached and emotionless, and I wouldn’t connect with the characters. My experience was the opposite. I loved hearing every character’s thoughts and feelings and it never felt clunky or repetitive. I love how the characters remembered things slightly differently, highlighting the fallibility of memory and people’s nature to remember things the way they want to remember them. We got so many fully fleshed out complex characters, no one was fully likable or unlikable, they were all just human. I was unexpectedly brought to the verge of tears several times, because by seeing both characters’ perspectives of a conflict almost simultaneously, I empathized with both on each side of an impossible situation, and felt the heartbreak of the impossibility of mutual happiness. I don’t really have any negatives to say about this book, it’s just the content (a lot of drug abuse) that kept it from 5 stars for me personally. That’s not to say it wasn’t handled well, it’s just personal preference.

I love this book so much, idk what exactly it is about it but its just so good. I love that you have Billy, Daisy, Karen, Graham, Camila and Simone telling the main story and then the people who worked with the band/industry filling in the gaps and then Warren is just there chilling like he doesnt really add to much (not a bad thing tho) and then I think my favourite more for what they bring is Eddie who is really helping the ‘why did they break up sub plot’ and just spends the whole time complaining about anything and everything.

Also it makes you think the whole time that hes going to be the problem child and the reason why they broke up but he's not

 

The last 20% of this book is soo good, again i cant really put it into words but so much is happening and its all coming to a head and its just beautiful (makes me cry but it’s beautiful and i wouldnt change it) 

Billy’s monologue (idk if its actually that but idk what else to call it) after the band talks about the SNL performance will probably always be one of my fave bits of text, the emotions in it are unmatched and no man will ever top it

Rereading it once you know who the narrator/author is really gives so many different bits so much more emotions when added to the context its just so good

Full cast which I loved as it really brought the characters to life and you really felt the emotions from them, especially from Billy (which left me crying in public several times)

I won't lie there are about 10 different POVs which does get confusing at first, especially if the character didn't introduce themselves before they started speaking, however having so many really gave you the insight of why the band fell apart and kept me hooked as the different pieces started to fall into place

If you have access to the audiobook version I can't recommend it enough
