I devoured the first book and was hoping to love the second as much but it just wasn’t it for me. Usually I love scarlet st Clair’s writing but this book was just so all over the place with the flashbacks/memories of Yessenia. I know it was an important plot device but I wish she indicated that we were in a flashback because I kept having to reread stuff because I thought it was Isolde’s POV but it wasn’t. Also I love smut normally but where was the buildup like Adrian and Isolde would go from arguing to fucking  like every other chapter

Too many plot threads and devices and I straight up cannot connect with Isolde's logic in this book.

How the mighty fall.
I loved the last book. The only thing about this one was the sex was still hot. But everything else was subpar. The plot is all over the place and nothing makes sense. Her connection to her last life still makes no sense since this isn’t set in a world where people often have past lives. She turns into some werewolf thing AND a vampire AND she’s a witch? Come on. And what’s with everyone betraying everyone else? Isolde is also suuuuper bitchy and annoying. And if the tables were turned and it were Adrian slapping her around we’d all hate him. They’re a terrible couple. Genuinely. The sexual chemistry is great like 75% of the time but sometimes it’s out of nowhere and it feels like the author was just feeling horny herself and wanted to write some more porn. All the characters are shitty, literally nobody is particularly likeable, everyone is ridiculous, there’s time jumps to past lives AND premonitions and neither of them are really explained well and so you’re just lost until it becomes apparent that it’s not in the current timeline…I was really disappointed in this book. I recommended the first one to a friend but will definitely tell her not to bother with this one.

Way too much sex, not enough storytelling. Fills like it's a book about Adrian and Isolde fighting, apologizing, and having angry sex, then they'd repeat the cycle. I got really bored and couldn't finish it. I don’t think I’ll read the next one.
