It was better than the first one imo
But its too slow to start … nothing is happening from the beginning to 70-80% of the book then everything goes TOO fast
I was disappointed for the treason of Sorin but it was inevitable tbh… and i feel like he is kinda right about adrian even if it isnt his intention he will be an issue… the fact that ana knows too is frightening
I kinda want to see the next daroc and sorin interaction omggg

Scarlett has done it again. QMM is sheer perfection. The banter, the plot twists, the push-and-pull, the mystery, the betrayals....I mean what a STORY!
Adrian is wonderful written. He's not your picturesque fictional character. He says the wrong things. He apologizes. He makes mistakes. Sometimes, he's even cruel. If morally grey is your favorite color, Adrian is it.
Isolde is empowered and unapologetic about it. She's sassy. She knows what she wants and won't accept anything less. I love that she also isn't perfect. She struggles a little with an identity she hasn't been properly introduced to, but feels a pull to. She struggles with grief.
This book had a ton of character development in it. Isolde and Killian especially. In QMM, we see Isolde acclimate to living in The Red Palace. She starts to question who she trusts and why. She starts to question what she's been told and raised to believe.
She's also adjusting to her new marriage and her role in The Red Palace. When Adrian brings in someone who should be an enemy, she starts to question why Adrian would do that to her... But there was no winning for Adrian or Isolde in that situation. Priorities have to be questioned. Just when she's adjusting, the unthinkable happens, she has to adjust to her new "normal" yet again. Isolde has to hold on to who she is despite everything about her changing.
What did I love?
-I love that Isolde isn't demure. I can't stand a demure FMC. And in order to rule and survive this world, she needs to be strong. And Isolde is.
-The plot twists. People I thought Isolde could trust threw me for a loop. When the unthinkable happened, I literally thought Isolde was having a fever dream, it shocked me so much.
-The backstories. I LOVE backstories. Knowing the character's backstories helps us see why these people did the things that they did. You can see what motivates them and how the decisions they made suddenly make sense.
-Killian Killian Killian. I love Killian in QMM. He's amazing. He does a full 180 from KBB. It goes to show that when removing the toxicity and negativity from your life, changes will follow.
-The representation. There's LGBT representation and there's POC representation-both black and indigenous.
Were all my questions answered?
No, but that's okay. This book was action packed and the questions I still have remaining don't feel like abandoned subplots. Scarlett is really good about resolving loose ends, so I have a feeling I'll get those answers in the next book.
But this book had so much change in it. Isolde needed to adjust to those changes over and over and over again to survive. And she did. Her future is nothing she'd ever imagine, but at least she's not facing it alone.

Ended on a cliffhanger, and I hate that. Especially when the next book won’t be out for another year. Characters develop well. Some twists and turns in the story that I didn’t see coming. I will read the next book whenever I get it and hope it has a clean ending.
