Nina is a single millennial trying to care for a parent with Alzheimer's, this hit very very close to home. Alderton did an incredible job showcasing accurately what that looks like as caregivers, as the child, the spouse and the person with the diagnosis. She deals with friendships that face growing pains and challenges as they age and get married and have children. It was just a sincere take on life.

I mean this MIGHT be me in 10 years

Didn't know what to expect when I picked this up, but really enjoyed it. Also, I adored the messy side characters.

I ended up taking a massive break from reading just after I started the book so it definitely did not take me the best part of 3 months to read! 😂
I enjoyed the book and whilst it is labelled as a romantic comedy, I wouldn’t go that far. I cannot relate to the App dating life or ghosting but I really felt for Nina. She went from this independent, confident woman to just being almost obsessed with someone who ghosted her after he professed his love to her and then really struggled to deal with this. In addition to this, she has to grieve the Dad she once knew and learn to be kinder with her Mother. Then lo and behold, the ghoster reappears! I think there will be a lot of people who can relate to Nina in her love life and her family situation but I’m not one of them.
Her relationship with her ex Joe was perplexing to say the least.
I did enjoy but not sure I would read again.

I had this down as a 4 star book when I read it for the first time in October 2020 but I’ve just finished rereading it over the last 2 days and it’s completely gone up in my opinions of it.

I resented with it so much more this time around and found the complex relationships it follows so gripping that I couldn’t put it down. Dolly understands people in a way that not many people do, and rereading this has made me so excited for her new book to come out next week!
