One of my favorite King books. There are some tough parts to get through in the middle, but I love love love Ralph Roberts one of my favorite protagonist. Insomnia also has one of King’s best endings.

Insomnia by Stephen King is a novel that tells the story of Ralph Roberts, an elderly man who begins experiencing strange and terrifying phenomena after his wife dies. While the novel has some interesting ideas and themes, it is overly long and meandering, and the plot is often confusing and difficult to follow. Additionally, the characters are largely unlikable and difficult to relate to, and the novel is often bogged down by excessive detail and unnecessary subplots. Overall, Insomnia is a disappointing read that is unlikely to appeal to most readers.

While King's writing is as engaging as ever, the overall effect is one of frustration and disappointment. Overall, Insomnia is a disappointing read that is unlikely to appeal to most readers.

As much as I like the idea of having an older protagonist and love interest, this was just abysmal. Your reading time would be better spent on The Dead Zone, to which I felt this was remarkably similar. It's much shorter and there aren't any cutesy alien / angel / whatever sidekicks.

Maybe the books I read are too dark that got me totally desensitized to the whole thing and this so called 'horror' seems pretty childish or more accurately like a children's book to me. Sure, in it's era, this was qualified as horror but it doesn't feel so to me, in the slightest. Counterintuitive to the title, I could see myself yawning repetitively every time I read a few pages. But yeah, this was too long for Boone's benefit. Most of Mr.King's books are.
