Seems Derry can't get rid of the darkness and this very much felt like an homage to IT. Not as heavy as IT but, also, not as good. Definitely weird though. And overall, a light and easy (for King) read.

This book is long and the action is sparse, so I can see why so many King fans dislike it. That being said, the ending is extremely well done and touching, so I feel badly for everyone who abandoned it halfway through. The book could be edited down without huge detriment, but overall I don't mind the extra introspection, and I love having an older male protagonist and everything that comes along with sharing his daily struggles.

So far one of my favorite of King's novels. It was a new experience reading about an older protagonist, but it was still completely relatable. It helped to reinstate that the elderly are still human and have the same thoughts and emotions as a person 20 or 40 years younger. I loved the idea of the Docs, the auras and "balloon strings", of the Random and Purpose. The book is a bit lengthy, but any dedicated reader can easily read through it. Highly recommended.

Really loved this book!
