Eight Steps: A Friends to Lovers Romance by Taylor Sullivan is a fun read, with lots of laughs along the way, as I followed this lighthearted and enjoyable read.
Elliot Prescott is a nice guy, a real lovable nerd, who is tired of not getting female attention. He works out, has a great job, he’s nice, reliable, looks after himself, and well presented- so he just can’t figure out why he can never ‘get the girl’. Elliot has a certain woman he’d like to catch the attention of, and has a month while she’s out of town to try to become more of a ‘catch’. He enlists the help of his best friend and roommate, Fe Porto, who suggests that women these days love more of an Alpha male. So, Elliot decides that if that’s what women want, then that’s what he’ll become. Fe comes up with a list of 8 ‘steps’ that Elliot will have to take in order to become the Alpha Male of woman’s fantasies. What ensues is a funny, charming, touching, and highly entertaining romp as these two work their way through the steps.
But what happens when a kiss changes everything? Will these two finally see what’s been in front of them the whole time? Will Elliot get the girl of his dreams? All is revealed in this quirky, witty and original book.

Eight Steps is a quirky, funny friends to lovers story which definitely deserves 5 stars in my opinion. This book had me hooked from the very beginning and I laughed so much when reading it.
Best friends and room-mates Elliot Prescott and Fe Porto are both super nerdy and have a friendship that everyone would be jealous of. When Elliot confesses that he likes a woman at work who doesn’t notice him, Fe comes up with a plan to turn him into a hot alpha male in 4 weeks – An eight step plan.
Reading the antics of Fe trying to turn, super sweet but super nerdy Elliot into an alpha male will have you in stitches. Not giving any spoilers but I will say that the dressing room scene when she tries to update his wardrobe is hilarious.
The story flows really well and you will fall more and more in love with these two as the book progresses. There is also a great deal of angst as Elliot and Fe start to see each other in a different light as the plan unfolds. This just makes the story more enjoyable.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it.

This is my second read by this author and in this case, the second time is the charm, I just finished my reread of this book. The first time I read it I had so much going on I could not give it the attention it deserved so had to give it another try. I had planned to give this book 4 stars after my first read through but after reading it again, laughing out loud more than once and sincerely enjoying the journey to an ending I had kind of figured out early on I had to give this book and this author 5 stars. Predictable early on yes, but predicting how they would get there..No and I so loved this story.
Elliot and Fe were a lot of fun and I loved their interaction and their friendship..I also totally enjoyed all of the other characters and how they were written in this story.
All in all I really and truthfully enjoyed reading this and I love the writing style, it makes for a really easy flowing read and I can't wait to read more from this author.
I highly recommend this book and this author. I will be going back and looking at what else she has available and watching for whatever she has in store for the future.

It is a friends to lovers story that will have you laughing along the way at their banter and friendship. Taylor has written characters that are charming and funny, quirky and witty, lovable and sexy whilst a little nerdy on the side. It is a highly entertaining journey on the road to change, discovery and love.

While I loved the premise of this book, I couldnt help but feel something was missing from the whole story for me. I love friends to lovers books and that was a huge draw in for me, it just fell short, to me.
I loved the friendship between these two, they had a great relationship but it just, in some spots, felt forced to be together.
Overall it was a good story, and I did get some laughs in as well.
Would read another book by this author.

I simply adored this book. I found the nerdy hunk to be adorable, extremely likeable, and charming. His best friend was relatable, quirky, and fun. Even though I found some of the plot to be predictable, it made it relatable and felt sincere. The dialogue was witty and the plot development was steady and enjoyable. I thought the author did a great job engaging the reader on fun romp. Loved it and cannot wait to read it again.
Eight Steps is a deliciously intense love story by Taylor Sullivan. A story that just left me breathless and desperate for more. As far as friends to lovers romances go, this was one of the best I have read. So riveting was these words, I read it in one go. These characters were so endearing, so charismatic, it was hard to put their story down.
Elliott and Fe were best friends. Dorky Elliott was thrust into Fe's hands to give him a new look. The almost non existent flame of arousal, passion and realisation was slow moving, the tension was so palpable, it was felt long after the book ended. So intense, every muscle in my body was pulled taut, ready to snap at any moment. If you love slow intensity love stories, then this story is one you must read. NOW. A riveting, emotional tale of exquisite discovery and soul deep feelings of love. 5 stars.

I'm usually a big fan or Taylor's books, but I just did not connect with this one. I found it more frustrating than enjoyable. There were multiple misplaced words that detracted from the story as well.
