This is one of my few comfort series, I generally re-read it every year. It has some of my all time favorite characters.

I liked it and I’ll be moving onto the next one, but many compare this to Outlander and I don’t find it has the same tone (I liked outlander much more) still this was a solid read (or listen if you do audiobook as I did).

Bonus points for slipped in references to Ian Murray and Clare Fraser, but points taken away for being almost the exact same book as Outlander only set 25 years later. That's not going to keep me from reading the next one, though!

I don't usually like to read romance but I decided to try this one out anyway. It was really good and I'm so glad I did give it a try. I could have done without all the many sex scenes but the story was really good. I'll be reading more of this series and I hope it stays this good. This is a really long book btw.
adventurous

Someone recommended this book to me by describing it as "Little House for grown ups." Partly true! I liked reading about ye olden times and just relaxed into the book and found its fluffiness comfortable. My friend neglected to mention that it's a romance novel. It's pretty formulaic romance--Nathaniel and Elizabeth move from conflict to conflict because that is the structure the story is built on, not because there is a meaningful reason for their struggles. A nice enough read.
