I first read the initial comic in this graphic novel when I was about 12. At the time, I was only a little into superhero stories but Aquaman always held a special place in the heart of blonde headed me.
Now, as then, this story of Aquaman's origins explain how he became at once the lord of the seas and a protector of men. There is emotion and action and it is a good story of a hero bookended by tragedy.
At the time, I didn't get to read the follow-up series where Aquaman returned to Atlantis and fought Jellyfish. Now that I have, I didn't miss much. I would rather have seen the origin story expanded into several more comics than this minor story which honestly seemed stretched to make it past 3 issues.
A nice read for those who enjoy Aquaman.
