I went into this knowing nothing besides having read this author before so being familiar with their style. I was not expecting a ‘family that owns basically disneyworld’ billionaire romance. I didn’t personally jive with setup for the relationship and there being two times the Rowan betrayed Zahra (the justification was lackluster). I’ll continue the series cause I think the premise of this relationship just didn’t do it for me especially as a workplace romance. I also personally did not need two epilogues.

This little Disney romance book had no business being as good as it was. I went into this expecting it to be “meh” and came out of it pleasantly surprised.

There were a few things I found to be tropey and cliche, but that was to be expected. The references to “Dreamland” (Disney) were fairly obvious, but as someone who enjoys the parks, and has a husband who works for the mouse, I thought some of the small references to be quite entertaining.

Overall, I thought this was a sweet, but spicy, grumpy/sunshine romance where even the sunshine has her own dark past. Together, they get to find their own happiness.

I loved the setting and found the story really engaging but the romance was kind of predictable and it was more sexually explicit than I’d anticipated

I liked this book! Although it at times felt like phrases or motions were becoming redundant, I was happy to see Rowan have significantly less self-deprecating thoughts throughout the story and Zahra get her creative inspiration back along the way too. I also admired how kind Zahra was to everyone - even Rowan - while still making choices for the benefit of her wellbeing. Further, I loved that Zahra kept her career ambitions in mind regardless of what occurred around her. I was very happy with the conclusion of this novel! [SPOILER AHEAD!]
On one hand, I did not want Zahra to take Rowan back because of how he kept hurting her and refusing to respect her decision to no longer engage with him, but on the other hand, I sympathize with her willingness to be there for Rowan amid his steep learning curve, as he was facing a genuine person for the first time, which was understandably challenging for him to process considering his upbringing and life experiences. In that way, I wanted to play devil’s advocate for him and the messes he made. Overall, I cannot deny I was happy they worked out in the end and Rowan truly committed to bettering himself for Zahra, their relationship, their family, and even himself. </ spoiler>

This was a very cute grumpy/sunshine romance book perfect for anyone who loves Dreamland *cough* Disney *cough* and a little spice. (3/5 spiciness) I'll definitely be reading the rest of the series.

Awful. How did this go viral?

👎🏻. Nope.  Please do not read this!!!!

I only finished because of a buddy read. I didn’t want to let down my friend.

It is really poorly written for a published book. A mountain of m cliches and tropes are used and rolled out. The sex scenes aren’t engaging or appealing. The possessiveness is ick. And the dialogue is a dumping ground for neat statements. As if the characters romance has given the angry MMC the cliff notes of if he’d used  professional psychotherapy to understand his feelings fears and needs.
