First book of 2025!! (Yeah...school got me good LOL.) Anyways, this book was pretty good- I'd say it was a solid 3.75/5 stars. It's a lot more slow-paced than what I'm used to, which made reading it a bit challenging at times. However, I think there's a beauty to slowing down and being intentional with reading, especially when reading the author's dedication and  the whole premise of the novel being about finding rest and rekindling joy after burnout. (Quite applicable to my own life haha.) Anyways, this book does in fact make me wanna go to a pottery studio HAHA- not just for the end product, but for the shaping, molding, and beauty of the process that exposes ourselves along the way :)

I really liked this! It was warm and cosy, but not without some deeper moments and I loved how we got to see so much of the inner workings of the main character. It was really thoughtful and contemplative with some beautiful moments. I just felt like it wasn’t very gripping and enticing because it was quite slow and gentle, and so I struggled to pay attention sometimes. I also didn’t love it when we followed a different character for just one character - it felt sudden and out of place, and we never returned to that character so it was a bit odd. Enjoyed it overall though!

I really liked the descriptions of pottery and the process of making it — learning to work with the clay and the metaphors for other life journeys but some of the overall story felt a little clumsy. I don’t know if this was a result of the translation or if I missed something as a result of cultural nuance.

It was a sweet story and I did like it but I found myself wishing it had felt less choppy.
