Pretty good book, although it took a while for me to get into. Not as good as Passage.

Time travel, humorous. The sci fi with incongruities, etc was tedious

This book definitely takes a while to get going. It's the kind of book that builds and builds without you noticing for a while, and then near the end you realize that EVERY teeny tiny detail is coming together to make a truly masterful conclusion. The end makes the whole rest of the book better in retrospect. However, I did take off a star because it does take a very long time to get going. It seems like the reader could be drawn in a little faster. I almost stopped once, but I am so glad I didn't.

Also, I have no idea why every one keeps calling this book hilarious. It is lighthearted and somewhat amusing at times, maybe even funny here and there, but hilarious? No. Perhaps people call it hilarious only in comparison to the first book in the Oxford Time Travel series (Doomsday Book, I think), which is possibly the single most depressing piece of fiction I have ever read (still a decent read though). This book is NOTHING like the first one in the series except for the fact that it uses the same time travel technology as a plot mechanism.
adventurous reflective

This novel is the second in a series I truly love. This one has a slow (almost painfully slow) start but really picks up. This is a lovely historical fiction/science fiction mash up with a mystery at the center. It's lengthy but good fun.

Took forever to get round to this. So complicated but I enjoyed the literary and historical references throughout. Also the paradoxes of time travel - though, some of that went over my head in wanting to follow the story. .

Absolutely charming, not as mind blowing as the doomsday book, but still a lovely little rom-com set in my favorite historical time period.

I read Blackout and All Clear and absolutely loved them. This is the book before Blackout, and it seemed a bit disjointed and bogged down with so much detail. I wanted to love this book, but I just couldn't get into it. I kept thinking of how great the other two following books were, and I couldn't finish.
