At the risk of sounding like an Energy Vampire, this creepy cult bus book is awful.
The writing is simplistic and corny and there are so many “And then everyone cheered” passages that it reads like a never-ending r/thathappened post.
Joy, the bus driver who imparts the “wisdom” of her ten rules to those on her bus, emanates real cult-y vibes and her passenger seem like brainwashed followers who do little more than chant on cue and uncritically restate everything Joy says.
This book also has some seriously evangelical energy, which was very, very odd, and I find the fact that so many businesses and school districts have adopted this book to be very troubling because of how overtly religious it is.
More disturbing, however, is that this vapid book is being peddled to managers. How appealing this book must be to ineffective managers who will likely take the “no energy vampires” rule as a reason to conveniently dismiss any form of criticism coming their way. I can certainly see how this messaging would make narcissistic managers who can never admit wrongdoing feel even more convinced that any form of criticism is just the work of energy vampires who just won’t “get on the bus.” Honestly, this book just reads as Gaslighting 101.

Good retelling of old info
I really liked the cheesy% way this book put together some really basic ideas that get lost in the shuffle. So many times going back to the basics is all we need to do to be successful! This book is fun, but I also retained a lot of the info because if the corny story! Can’t wait to share it with my coworkers!

Loved. A non- fiction book written like a novel. Beautifully explained simple principles with characters you can’t help but love
Great for remembering what to focus on when facing challenges; improving yourself and then inviting your team to join you. Very quick read.
