I did think there would be a bit more action/Nation Treasure vibes with hidden passages and brick removal revealing clues but I suppose the point was to be more “realistic”.
Would probably be an another half star if the ending was a bit more exciting. I also struggled with the fact that everything within this book was meant to be highly researched and factual but a main character with albinism seemed perfectly sighted and this book is set prominently in the nighttime.
However, feminism throughout was a nice theme was once!

I have conflicting thoughts about this one. It had me hooked right off the bat and the pacing was quick with very short chapters that often left you wanting to read more. However, the big reveals left me a bit disappointed and some things which were quickly normalized (the reason Sophie had stopped speaking to her grandfather) left me a bit upset with the direction. I did overall enjoy my time with it so I wouldn’t say it was a bad book, just a bit too far fetched at times.
I didn't read it...I listened to it on my iPod. Maybe it was the narrator's hilarious voices and accents but I thought it was pretty entertaining. I feel about it the way I feel about the movie Crash. It isn't anything new but it might work as a good primer for people who need to know about these controversial issues.

Lots have been said about this book and Dan Brown since DaVinci Code surfaced. Irrespective of the opinion about Brown's writing skills and his literary abilities, this book is just unputdownable.
It is one book that has brought the Holy Grail and the myths and mysteries surrounding it to the general people.
Yes, all intellectuals might snob at Brown's authorship, but when I am reading a fast paced thriller, I do not worry much about the writer's literary skills (that doesn't mean that it should be completely lacking). What is important to me is his storytelling ability, the way he weaves the mystery and the manner in which the twists and punches are packed.
And for one, who did not have any idea about the Holy Grail, it is pretty educational too, at least for a start.
I enjoyed reading and discussing it very much. Four Stars hands down.
