Overall, it’s an interesting read. It’s hard to get a take on the narrator of the story, which leads to uncertain speculation. It’s not suspenseful through the whole book, as most of it is reflection on the past.

What happened to Saskia? This is the question that Detective Novak puts to Angela and Saskia's husband. Through Angela's story we go to when Angela meets Saskia to what happened to her. Angela claims she had nothing to do with it and it's up to Detective Novak to unravel all the secrets the three held tight to them.

I wasn't really expecting to like this one as I disliked all the characters, and after a slew of horrible psychological thrillers/suspense I thought this was another meh book. I apologize, Roz as this book had me out on the deck till I finished the book. While I disliked Angela, and Saskia even more, I was invested to see what would happen and where it will go. It was well-written and realistic. I cannot wait till the next book.

Meh. Probably less than meh. BUT! I think this is #50 for the year.

this book was okay! i'm a fan of unreliable narrators but this one was so unbearably unlikeable that it kind of turned me off. but also tend to really dislike books with unlikeable narrators, so if you like that kind of thing maybe you'd like this book.

my biggest issues were that a) there is no "little secret" or at least not one notable enough for it to be the title and b) it ended exactly how i assumed it would from the very beginning. not a twist at all, literally just what i thought was going to happen based on the very first chapter.

overall, it was fine. i wouldn't necessarily recommend it but i wouldn't NOT recommend it. it was quick and reading it wasn't painful. a solid 2.5-3ish starts.

The plot of this book is like a rollercoaster. It goes in one direction for a while, then goes a different direction, and then somewhere completely out of nowhere. Then the ending - whew! I was shocked.

This is a new to my author, and I’ll definitely be reading more! Our Little Secret is a great mystery/suspense!

I was really into this book for a while. I loved how the whole story was told from the interrogation room. I didn’t live all the characters and I saw the ending coming.

The twist felt kind of lazy, i enjoyed the journey but the end didn’t really feel worth it.

Roz Nay's debut, Our Little Secret, opens with lead protagonist Angela Petitjean being questioned by the local police in the disappearance of a woman named Saskia. It is not until Detective Novak starts interrogating her that she begins telling him about her tangled history with Mr. Parker, aka HP, and an interesting, and somewhat disturbing, picture begins to emerge.

Angela's family moved around quite a bit for her father's job and when they settled into Cove, VT when she was 15, she was a bit of a social outcast until HP befriended her. Thick as thieves and extremely close, the two were inseparable until after high school graduation. HP remained in town whereas Angela felt pressured by her parents to go to Oxford for a year of university. This decision is a HUGE turning point in both her and HP's lives and unexpectedly leads straight to why she is suspected in the disappearance of Sakia.

I have to confess that I initially felt very sympathetic toward Angela. Her relationship with her parents is rather strained and her mother is pretty horrid. The frequent moves made it difficult for Angela to maintain friendships and their move to Vermont occurred at a critical point in her life. HP was a lifesaver when he stepped in and became her friend, so it is no surprise she feels rather territorial and protective of what they shared.

It is not until after the situation in Oxford plays out that my empathy for Angela's plight took a nosedive. Had she made other decisions, everyone's lives would have turned out for the better. She refused to see (and accept) what was staring her in the face and she made choices that put her and everyone around her on a collision course with disaster. Even knowing this, the novel's ending took me off guard and I was a little stunned to discover the truth about what happened to Saskia!

An impressive debut by Roz Nay, Our Little Secret is definitely a page-turner even though readers might be a little hard-pressed to like the characters. The storyline is compulsively readable and I was genuinely surprised by the novel's somewhat stunning conclusion.
