4.5* on re-read - this time along with the audiobook, which was fantastic, and the more audiobooks of SGJ I read, the better I understand and appreciate his narrative structures. Oral storytelling is so powerful, and for me, it comes through in the audiobooks of this and My Heart Is A Chainsaw. I appreciated the circular and non-linear, multi-pov narrative structure much more than on first read.
Hardy's conclusion is still a wonderful piece of storytelling, and for such a brutal and violent story overall, this is a delicate and gentle closing element of the book.

Jade can't catch a break. She even tried to change her name to change her fate--call her Jennifer now. She trudged home to Proofrock, to a world that left her behind four years ago, and tried to make a fresh start. Fate wasn't having it.

Her homecoming is ruined by the arrival of a new slate of horrors that put her back into Slasher-freak mode, and, AGAIN, she is fighting for her life. The mother of all snowstorms has descended, there's a serial killer on the loose, and the past won't stay buried. Plus, she has to deal with super-fans now, which is strange.

Jade was hard to relate to in the first book, but she was my favorite here. Her growth, her love, her vulnerability was magical. The slasher references were always on point. The twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat, and screaming "of course!!" when it was all  (mostly) revealed. It was quite a ride, and I am very excited to read the next installment!

Brutal. This one seemed like it had so much more gore than the first. This book was crazy and had me guessing the whole freaking time. I cant wait to read the third and final in the trilogy!

Okay the changing perspectives were a little wonky at first but they definitely added to the story. Kimmy and Hardy especially had interesting back stories only they could articulate. Jade continues to be a bad bitch and the story was fun.
