“The words echoed greenly in my head, as if at great depths. They were shark words at deep fathoms, jaws words come to gobble me. Words with teeth and eyes.”

I love King works as Bachman. To me, they are some of his most raw and best works.

A novel that has a very complicated relationship with the world it exists in. While it being out of print may be justified, it remains a piece of great strength, and an astonishing read for King enthusiasts (especially of his early works in the 70s and 80s).

Okay, I have a lot of feelings about this book. First of all, this was written in 1977, now I was not born back then, but my best guess is that school shootings weren't that much of a topic back then. Of course, they occurred, but not as much. Reading this in 2019 is so intense because I hear about it so much. I live in Denmark, there has been one school shooting here, yet I still have had 3 courses about them in school, and had to write a 7-page paper on it. Why? Because it happens so frequently and we hear about it on the news, social media, friends etc. so often.
Now, why am I talking about school shootings instead of "Rage"? Because it is an essential part of why this book is so gruesome.
I understand why King decided to take it out of publishing, and I do not believe this would have been published today. Even if it is an important topic to talk about. We read it from the perspective of Charlie, the shooter. He shoots two teachers and takes his classmates hostage. Throughout the story, Charlie and some of the others tell some stories from their life, and slowly we find out what drove him to commit this act. It was really well written, I loved the fact that we got into Charlie's mind, understanding why he did the shooting. Now the reason it is а 4 star and not 5, is because I don't really like the fact that, we sympathised more with Charlie and kind of hated one of the students, as much as I hated ted, I didn't like how everyone turned against him and were on Charles' side. I love the ending and the fact that Charlie basically doesn't have a life after this, but I don't think that you should relate to Charlie, as much as you do. That is the reason why this book is out of sale.

Pretty anti-climatic end for what this story is about. Also, why does Stephen King hate women and fat people so goddamned much??

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER.
dark fast-paced

Equal parts scary and real. The judgement reminded me a bit of Lord of the Flies and I do not want to discuss the ending.
