This book takes longer than you'd think. It gets stranger and more intricate as it goes along, and by the end you really have to pay attention to get what it's saying. I liked the underlying messages and the vivid portrayals of the area and the characters.

My library loan ended :( It was really interesting so far, but also kinda slow. I think it deserves a second chance though! The writing was really interesting.

A moving narrative that rewards you the longer you stick around on the journey. A twisting tale that bends back on itself multiple times and deepens with reflection as a father seeks to find a long-lost son amid the after-effects of war and regime change.

Astonishing.. Dense with magic and fatherhood and brotherhood and felt like a lightning rod for the times of extreme pain and alienation that the kurdish people have endured - and the resultant warmth and connection that somehow emerges at the seams. Beautifully woven with hearty swings at the surreal and bizarre strictures of power. Please read xo
