Four stars for the text, extra star for Kalman's illustrations.
Clear, concise, insightful. Details ways to follow the idea "eat food, not too much, mostly plants" from his book In Defense of Food.
Pollan's rules are great and surely would make a delicious diet, if you were very wealthy or an independent farmer.
This is a nice little handbook for those needing tips on how to eat better. However, if you've read any of Michael Pollan's books or have seen any any food documentaries in the vein of Food, Inc. you will not learn much new from this book. Since I have been reading about the whole foods movement and learning about the dangers of chemicals in our foods, I didn't really learn much from this book. Also, it's incredibly short. I was able to read it in one sitting. If you want something more substantial, consider Pollan's other books.
Quick read, jumped right to the point, but I don't think that I got much out of this book. It was TOO short. Maybe I'll read Pollan's other books to get more info.
This book should be a mandatory text in all school health classes.
informative
fast-paced
Straightforward and simple. Makes things easy to keep in mind, but isn't an all or nothing mentality.
Familiar territory for anyone who has read Pollan's other work, but a great read regardless. "Don't eat anything your great-grandmother wouldn't recognize as food."
