I enjoyed these food rules, which makes it very easy to choose the right things to eat. This is a must for anyone who cares about a proper diet.
Decent rules and a very quick read. Much less information than Omnivore's Dilemma.
This was okay, mostly common-sense stuff I already practice: shop the perimeter of the store, eat lots of fresh whole foods, don't drink your calories, etc.
While Pollan doesn't ignore science, he chooses to disregard scientific jargon in this manual, instead looking at the cultural food rules that keep us healthy. It's easy to read and understand which is definitely a bold 180 from THE OMNIVORE'S DILEMMA which was much too dense for me to be able to read through with much understanding.
Awesome, awesome, awesome. Everyone should have this sitting on their kitchen counter to be read and re-read.
Simple little book, but right on. The rules are mostly common sense, but it's nice to have a refresher now and again.
I am such a huge fan of Michael Pollan. If everyone would follow his rules, Americans would finally understand the meaning of health.
"Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants."
"Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants."
Common sense and easy to read, I don't really like Maira's art style in the revised edition so it took some away from the book for me.
informative
fast-paced
A good fast read. Some parts were a little preachy but overall good insight.
Saw an ad for Pollan's master class and thought I'd check out his books. Was this informative? Yes. Will I still eat processed "fake food"? Absolutely.
