You know you've finished a good book when you heave a sigh of pleasure. That was how I felt upon finishing Pride and Prejudice. I read it about 8 years ago when I understood no concept of love or the importance of a family. But here I am, an adult, fully comprehending the essence of the book and I loved it!

During my last reads, I only focused on the love angle aimed at Lizzy and Darcy. But now I appreciate the depth of Austen's characters. Whether it is the letters they wrote or their conversations, it's so precise that it is often used to steer the direction of the story.

I must have been in a rush to finish this book that I never seemed to remember the details. This time though, I often re-read chapters, especially ones that completely changed the direction of the plot. Reading it at such a pace gave me the leisure to examine and re-examine everything they said, each action they performed. Reading this book was an experience, I'd want anyone to have and enjoy!

As for Lizzy and Darcy, I've always loved them and they made me fall for them yet again. I was unaware of how self-absorbed Lydia is or how irritating Mr. Collins was! There are awkward and funny moments, moments where the reader has second-hand embarrassment. It is an eventful read.

Except for the one long unnecessary letter by Mr. Collins, I was never bored by this book. I loved this book and I'm sure I'll continue to love it as I get older. Now I'm off to enjoy more of Pride and Prejudice by watching the BBC show!

Edit, February 2024

This is my third time reading P&P (at least if I've religiously updated Goodreads). I read once again to cherish the love I have for Elizabeth and Darcy. Since I remembered everything that happens between them, there were too many moments where I just held the book, half hid my face and gushed. It's as if they were a real couple and I was being super happy for them, as their best friend. Truly, they have been with me, let's see, since 2011, meaning a good 14 years! I'm never bored of this book. Every time it gives me the same pleasure of loving this couple. I wish to keep coming back to them as I grow older and wiser.

mr darcy is anyone’s perfect man. you see his and elizabeth’s growth throughout the book and see how their opinions of each other were both ruled by their pride and prejudice
