And at last, Celaena Sardothien becomes Aelin Galathynius.

“She lifted her face to the stars. She was Aelin Ashryver Galathynius, heir of two mighty bloodlines, protector of a once-glorious people, and Queen of Terrasen. She was Aelin Ashryver Galathynius—and she would not be afraid.”

I’ve got to say that I didn’t understand what was so awesome about the Throne of Glass series. But now? Now I understand. I kept reading after the first book because people kept telling me it was gonna get so much better. Well, so much better has arrived, it delivered and then some.

This book seems like from another planet entirely. And hey don’t get wrong, the previews two books in the series were not bad but they were not good either. Not good as this, not even close. This is the [a:Sarah J. Maas|3433047|Sarah J. Maas|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1582137198p2/3433047.jpg] writing I remember and came to adore. She once again blew my expectations.

First book in the series that I truly like and respect Caleana; she isn’t incessantly complaining or worried about clothes or using her beauty to get what she wants and to give herself value. True character development. Beautiful character development.

In this book we see Celaena truly saying goodbye to Dorian and Chaol. We see both men trying to move on and it is openly established that she will not end up with neither. (At least, that’s what I think.) And look I like romance, that’s my thing. And that’s why I want Caleana to choose someone already. I want a consuming heart-shattering romance between her and whoever she’s supposed to end up with. I’ve read four Throne of Glass books and the one person I like enough for her to end up with is Sam, and he’s dead. So I have high expectations for [b:Queen of Shadows|18006496|Queen of Shadows (Throne of Glass, #4)|Sarah J. That said, even though there was little to no romance, I understand that this book was not about that. It was about Celaena finding herself under all that pain, suffering, self-loathing and coming out as the queen she was always meant to be. It was about her embracing her past, accepting her mistakes and clawing her way out of her fear and coming out as her true self, Aelin Galathynius.

Sorscha was so cute to me. Loving the prince from afar all those years. She had that girl next door vibe I really like. Loved the way she was introduced and the part (not so small, not so unnoticed) that she played in how things turned out. In a perfect world...

“Someone might walk in,” she protested, squirming out of his grip. He let her go, but his eyes gleamed in a way that told her when they were alone again tonight, he might not be so easy to convince. She smiled.
“Do that again,” he breathed.
So Sorscha smiled again, laughing. And he looked so baffled by it that she asked, “What?”
“That’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen,” he said.

Aedion I liked. Such a relieve he is on our side. I gotta empathize with him. What can a say? I have a thing for guys who make themselves someone’s whore to do some good (Rhysand anyone?). For sure we will be seeing more of him. I’m waiting for that moment he gets reunited with Aelin.

My beautiful Dorian. How my heart aches for you, for your pain, for feeling betrayed yet again. What an almighty king he one day will be. Because there’s no doubt in my mind that he will rise and he will come out of this stronger than before. I will be waiting for you Dorian, and I am on your side.

“She was not becoming anything different from what she always was and always had the capacity to be. You just finally saw everything. And once you saw that other part of her …,” Dorian said quietly. It had taken him until now, until Sorscha, to understand what that meant. “You cannot pick and choose what parts of her to love.” He pitied Chaol, he realized. His heart hurt for his friend, for all that Chaol had surely been realizing these past few months. “Just as you cannot pick which parts of me you accept.”

Someone finally showed some backbone. So many things happened in the king’s chambers. One of them being Chaol choosing on who’s side he is. I’m interested to see what will happen with him and when he is finally reunited with Aelin.

“It would take time, he knew—for it to stop hurting, to let go. But the pain wouldn’t last forever.”

Rowan. I have mix feelings about Rowan. I don’t know if I like him enough, enough to be the person I think he is. But we’ll see... For what it looks like, he’ll be with us for a while.

His eyes flickered—with what emotion, she couldn’t tell. “I won’t be biting you again,” he said, and she wondered just what he’d tasted in her blood. She growled, but the sound was muted. Fangless. “Even if it’s the only way to get me to shift?”
He walked uphill—to the ridge. “You don’t bite the women of other males.”

“I claim you, Aelin. To whatever end.”

Wow that really went to hell in a hand basket praying for them next book lollll - also wow I like manon now but I have never wanted to skip chapters so much in the beginning like I wanted to hear about the DRAMA not the witches

I have two words.
ROWAN WHITEHORN

Idk if I really have words do describe how much I loved this book but … THIS BOOK WAS SOOOOOO GOOD !!!!! I was waiting for some crazy family drama and this book did not disappoint …. Literally like 3 different families and their drama and I was living for it. I am officially team Rowan but I definitely say that about every man Celaena encounters so we’ll see what happens in the future. I don’t really know if I can get behind the whole biting her neck and just moving on with our day but I guess we’re different … also can we ban long blond hair from these fantasy books I’m over it it’s not cute!!!! Don’t even get me started on the quote at the end that she got from Sam cuz I’ll start crying again … and the switch from Celaena to Aelin NOPE I’ve got to stop talking about it. I am already picking up the next book because the 50 cliffhangers this one left off on was insane. I’ve never had my jaw drop more times within 2 chapters and it was amazing. 10000/10
