Seth and Kendra are growing up so much!!!

I was worried I wouldn't remember enough of the previous books to enjoy this one as much as I should, but I'm glad I do. These books are magical.

I enjoyed almost every aspect of this book from the storytelling to the character development. While this is geared more toward a younger audience, I think that Brandon Mull made this appealing to any age. This does mean that most (if not all) themes are adolescent.
I think that the Humbugle storyline and discovering what happened to the Nipsies were great additions to the series. While we don't know everything about the dragon rebellion yet, we find a good chunk of the information behind it in this book.
I am eager to read more in the last book of the series!

This one wasn't favorite. It was slow getting started. There was also about a hundred pages explaining a back story that seemed like it should have been a separate book. Satisfying ending and setup for the last book in the series, though.

Another amazing book to an amazing story. I don’t know how Brandon Mull keeps coming up with more, but he always does. Now I must suffer until the final book comes out!

Kendra and Seth are continuing to work apart. Kendra is trying to stop the dragons from taking over. They have to flee to Titan Valley as more and more dragon sanctuaries collapse. Kendra is charged with finding the Harp of Ages to help win against the dragons. Seth is still trying to find his memories and in order to do so, he is trying to figure out how to win Humbuggle's Titan Games. Both of them though are trying to keep the Wizenstone from falling into the clutches of Celebrant. It is going to be hard to battle against Celebrant and the other dragons, Ronodin (who takes over the Fairy Realm- capturing the Fairy Queen's Crown), and Humbuggle. There is a lot of trickery going on. Plus, while things seem pretty safe on the surface at Titan Valley, the dragons that are being held as servants are not to be completely trusted. Also, the hardest part of the mission takes place during the Perennial Storm, which is a million times worse than any normal storm. Again, this book goes back and forth between Kendra and Seth and each of their missions. It was also again hard as a reader to know that some of the choices that Seth makes aren't the greatest because while Seth has lost his memories and isn't exactly sure who he can trust, we know who is on his side and who isn't. Plus, it is hard to see him not trusting his own sister.

This one introduced characters and magical items and culture faster than I could keep up. I felt like it was a showcase of "look at all my cool ideas" without really showcasing the characters and how they are changing and growing.

I think this is my least favorite installment for Dragonwatch so far. I could predict almost everything that happened for major plot points. And the character growth seemed nonexistent for almost all the characters until the very end. On the other hand, giants vs dragons are a lot of fun. And the wide variety of dragons is entertaining. The house and other backpacks for giants to carry people were entertaining. And the ending (without spoilers) was extremely satisfying, though it did leave a lot of setup for the last book.

My 10yo will love it like she has all the others. Which is great because it’s the intended audience right there. I will still read the last book when it comes out, but I don’t find myself as excited for the ending as I hoped I would.
