Quite graphic and disgusting yet I couldn't stop! Interesting story line and seemingly possible which is the scary part.

Had to take a break cause my skin broke out, and I didn't want to get nightmares about worms in my face. After that, this was disgusting in the best ways.

My analysis: themes of the loss of innocence/the involuntary coming-of-age the boys go through, especially Max. The danger of interfering with nature, the folly of man interfering with nature for his own purposes. Interesting role of fathers in this; Ephraim wanting to escape from the shadow of his violent father while struggling with his own anger issues, Kent, who idolises his father and can only see a future where he grows up to be exactly like him, and Max, whose father is quite opposite to Kent's--softer, more vulnerable, weaker.

Took almost a year for me to finish this book cause I almost DNF’d it once I reached the middle of the book. I feel like the beginning is so drawn out but the end was so rushed. It wasn’t necessarily a bad book overall I just think it was overhyped by the booktok community.

This book has made me have new fears that I never thought to have, so I hate it. But it's also very well written and just spine tingling scary and soul crushing all in one book.
